ITA is seeking a Journeyman UI/UX Designer to join our team.

Responsibilities

The Journeyman UI/UX Designer supports the design and development of intuitive, user-centered digital solutions for government and commercial customers. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, this individual assists in translating user requirements into wireframes, prototypes, workflows, and visual designs that improve usability, accessibility, and overall user experience. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with software developers, business analysts, data scientists, and project managers in the development of technology-enabled solutions. 

Responsibilities: 

User Experience Design 

  • Assist in gathering and analyzing user requirements, workflows, and business processes to understand user needs and mission objectives 
  • Support the development of user personas, journey maps, and user stories to inform design decisions.  
  • Participate in user research activities, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing sessions.  

User Interface Design 

  • Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and screen designs for web-based and mobile applications.  
  • Develop user interface components that are consistent with established design standards and branding guidelines.  
  • Assist in creating visual designs that improve usability, accessibility, and user engagement. 

Collaboration & Development Support 

  • Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure designs are technically feasible 
  • Support agile development teams by translating user needs into clear design artifacts and documentation.  
  • Participate in design reviews, sprint planning sessions, and project meetings.  

Usability & Accessibility 

  • Assist in evaluating applications for usability and accessibility compliance, including Section 508 requirements where applicable.  
  • Conduct basic usability testing and document findings and recommendations.  
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by incorporating user feedback into design updates.  

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Communications, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.  
  • 3–10 years of experience in UI/UX design, digital design, web design, or a related field.  
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.  
  • Basic understanding of user-centered design principles and usability best practices.  
  • Strong visual design, communication, and organizational skills.  
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Experience creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.  
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.  
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG.  
  • Exposure to data visualization, dashboard design, or business intelligence applications.  
  • Experience supporting government, defense, or public sector customers. 
  • Active Secret clearance or experience supporting the United States Government

Pay range for this position is $110,000 - $122,000 annually.

 

This position has a broad compensation range due to the complexities of government contracting, including contract pricing, labor category requirements, funding parameters, and varying levels of candidate experience and qualifications.
