ITA is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the team in Warner Robins, Georgia.

 

Please note this position is contingent upon successful contract award, expected Fall 2025.

Responsibilities

Join a growing company to support the Untied States Air Force on analytic, modeling, and simulation capabilities.  A senior data engineer works with datasets to help make data useful to a project; works to advance data science goals; prepares data for analytical or operational purposes; incorporates data security and data governance.

 
  • Data Storage:  Develop relational databases; data warehouses that include central repositories for structured data to maximize usage for querying and analysis; data lakes for unstructured and structured data.  Ensure all development adheres to the approved versions of software, languages, libraries, and frameworks, and is maintained in centralized source control. 
  • Data integration: Integrate data from various sources, such as sensor data and simulation data, to support assessments and validation of models.
  • Data infrastructure:  Leverage government-provided infrastructure to include data centers, cloud environment, or a hybrid of both.  Ensure all work is performed using approved software, languages, libraries, and frameworks, and is maintained in centralized source control for seamless integration with the approved cloud environments. 
  • Data processing.  Document the entire process in briefings, documents, information papers or reports suitable for top management use and decision-making.  Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools for data integration; batch processing for large amounts of data at scheduled intervals; and if an API exists, stream processing of real-time data.  Utilize only approved tools and versions compatible with the organization's cloud environment. 
  • Data Management: Establish data governance policies and procedures for data quality, data privacy and compliance; data cataloging; and data security.  Ensure these policies align with the approved software, languages, libraries, and frameworks used within the organization. 
  • Data Architecture.  Design and develop the data architecture that supports EMS operations and M&S activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and align with business objectives; Collaborate with data engineers, data analysts, and other IT teams to implement and maintain data architecture; and communicate data architecture concepts and decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Oversee and guide less senior staff on reporting and briefing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical field.  PhD desired.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expert knowledge of data bases, data modeling, and SQL.
  • Active Secret clearance.  Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiar with tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Python for analysis and visualization.
  • IBM Data Engineering Professional Certificate 
  • Google Cloud Certification: Cloud Data Engineer Professional Certificate 
  • IBM Data Warehouse Engineer Professional Certificate  
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
