    ITA currently recruiting for a Linguist: Malayalam CAT II ARCENT (CENTCOM AOR) This position is contingent upon award of contract. 


    ITA is currently accepting applications from linguists who can interpret and translate fluently in Malayalam  and English. Linguists will provide foreign language interpretation and translation services while supporting classified operations with US Military personnel in and around Afghanistan. Qualified candidates must be willing to travel to Afghanistan. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency reading, writing, listening and speaking Malayalam - and English. Opportunities are available for applicants with and without previous military experience. Prior linguistic experience is beneficial, but not required. On the job training is provided.



    •  CAT II – Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance
    • ILR level 3 in English
    • Able to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and have broad enough vocabulary that he/she rarely
    • has to ask for paraphrasing or explanation.
    • Able to follow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers, reasonably make and answer telephone calls, understand radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral reports, some oral technical reports and public addresses on non-technical subjects.
    • U.S. citizens who either possess a Top Secret Security Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI), or who, after prescribed counterintelligence screening, have been granted by the U.S. Government, at a minimum, an interim TS clearance with interim access to SCI.
    • CI screened by Government designated personnel in accordance with the Contract Linguist Personnel Security Investigation and Counterintelligence-Focused Security Review Program Policy and/or NSA Q Group and local NSAG security policies.
    • Support the assigned unit up to 7 days per week for 8 hours per day or more.
    • Read, write, and speak clearly while using concise grammar and pronunciation.
    • Have the ability to conduct consecutive, accurate translations and interpretations of on-going conversations and/or activities.
    • Have the familiarity and ability to conduct oneself in accordance with the local culture and customs.
    • Have the ability to deal inconspicuously with local population
    • Be willing and able to live and work in harsh environments, to include living and working in temporary facilities and/or combat zone if necessary.
    • Have the ability to function efficiently and effectively during extended periods of high pressure and stress.
    • Provide general linguistic support for military operations and interpret during interviews, meetings, and conferences.
    • Interpret various forms of
    • Translate, transcribe and analyze communications.
    • Perform document exploitation.
    • Scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents for key information.
    • Translate and/or transcribe foreign language documents
    • Provide input on reports
