Overview

ITA recruiting for a Building Engineer/ Architect for our NOB Shipyard location.  Must have a current DoD clearance.  

Responsibilities

The Engineer will provide the following:

 

  • Perform technical architectural project management for in house designs; making field surveys to determine existing conditions; coordinating assignments and scheduling with engineers or trades responsible for other parts of the project to ensure proper space installation of building systems while representing MARMC's interests; provide technical support to the outside contractors and serving as a point of contact forcoordination of design criteria and information with the Command, outside firms, and other involved representatives; and taking site visits during scoping, design and construction while inspecting conditions to ascertain possible architectural problems; and monitoring construction and/or repairs in the interests of the Command to ensure that architectural aspects of the project are constructed in accordance with space contract plans and specifications or problem space solving of latent conditions that may arise during construction. 
  • Develop construction drawings and specifications; preparing design-build requests for proposals (RFPs) and architectural oversight for in-house departments using such areas as open office spaces, testing and repair labs for shipboard equipment, industrial shops, warehouse and storage space, and other support needs; evaluating projects to determine the most appropriate, energy efficient, and economical systems to meet the functional requirements of the Command; preparing original concept designs to completed final working documents using computer-aided design and drafting software; preparing correspondence, status reports, economic analyses, and fact sheets written and oral presentations regarding architectural-related topics when requested; and reviewing submitted plans, specifications, cost estimates, project documents, and reports for completeness, technical adequacy, functional design, sound architectural and engineering practices, and compliance with all applicable criteria and code

 

  • Provide support for MARMC divisions and codes with issues as they relate to environmental and technical conditions supporting Command activities and daily operations on a 24/7 basis

 

Qualifications

 

  • Shall possess an Interim or Active SECRET Security Clearance
  • Shall be United States citizen

  • Experience using Auto CAD 
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC)

  • Building Engineer/Architect requires a Bachelor's Degree in architecture, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering technology, or general engineering

  • A minimum of 10 years equivalent job-related experience
